Facebook Connect – How will Internet Marketers use it’s potential?

I must admit that Facebook Connect only hit my radar within the past month or so.  If by chance your not familiar with it, Facebook developed an API that other websites can use to allow site visitors to bring their Facebook profile with them, thus bypassing a lengthy signup process.  There are pro’s and cons to the technology for both the end user and the website owner.  I list a few in an article on my blog called…

Facebook Connected?

What Is Facebook Connect And What Can It Do For You?

Oddly enough I have not seen many, well make that any, Facebook Connect integrations into direct response internet marketing campaigns.  I do believe that this will change soon, as the potential is huge on three fronts.

1. Viral Exposure

2. Demographic Information

3. User Experience Customization

Over the next few weeks I will be writing a series of articles / post on the potential benefits of Facebook Connect and how it can be used by internet marketers.

Be sure to post a comment telling me 1. When did you first hear about Facebook Connect? 2. Have you yet used it to connect your Facebook profile to a another website? 3. Have you already, or do you have plans to add it to your own site?

Ah glad to see your site is back up, tried leaving a comment before with no luck it returned Page Timed Out.

    Just an FYI

That’s an interesting point John and I am sure that many people share your opinion. For a while I looked to keep two separate profiles but then decided that it was too much work. It will be interesting to see if the masses adopt facebook connect or look to an OpenID provider instead.
